Super Sniper Review by AR15.com

Super Sniper Mildot

While many would automatically dismiss this scope because it is a Tasco, and Tasco has a long standing reputation for marketing "low-end" models, I recently got the opportunity to test this particular model and was impressed. Selling for ~$500 (elsewhere) puts this scope in competition with some of the upper mid-range optics from Leupold, Nikon, Redfield, and others; a range that is filled with very competitive optics.

I recently acquired a Bushmaster flat-top with a 24" V-Match barrel. For this rifle, I wanted a scope with a mildot reticle, and I wanted to maintain a matte finish. There are plenty of great optics selling for $1000+, but I wanted something for this rifle for $500. or less. This narrowed my search down to a couple of Leupold models. However, when going to my usual dealer for optics, they recommended the Super Sniper Mildot by FAR over any of the Leupold scopes in the price range. They seemed impressed with the Super Sniper, and I trust their recommendations.

The Super Sniper Mildot is available in fixed 10, 16, and 20x versions, all featuring a standard mildot reticle, focus/parallax adjustment, windage and elevation target knobs, and 30mm bodies. Lenses are fully coated, and the scopes feature a 42mm objective. (flip-up covers not included) In addition, the focusing/parallax adjustment knob is situated mid-body, and opposite the windage adjustment knob, making for easy adjustment with the rifle in the shooting position. Target knobs are 1/4 MOA, and feature silent yet "feelable" clicks.

The scope is very durable, and appears to be very well made. Since Tasco does not actually manufacture any of their own optics, their reputation for selling low-end scopes is because they have chosen to target that market. They can purchase as much quality as they need, and this scope seems like a good example of this. However, perhaps due to their reputation, Tasco has chosen not to put their name anywhere on this particular scope.

The optics were very bright due to it's 30mm body, and I had no problems sighting this scope in or maintaining a zero. It was fairly easy to walk all the shots at both 100 and 200 yds, and the adjustments seemed to be right on. Adjusting the scope through it's range and bringing it back always brought me back to the original zero.

I am satisfied with the Super Sniper Mildot scope. I felt that quality and ruggedness were very good, and at there is no competition for this 30mm mildot scope unless you spend twice as much. It performed well, fit my needs perfectly, and it will stay right where it is for now.
